XLSX and CSV

Columns: All compares every cell in the row. Tick specific columns when only those values should match. Spaces at the start or end of a cell are ignored, so ' Ada ' matches Ada. The first match stays, the header row stays, and a row that is empty in every cell stays until you choose Remove blank rows. The file stays in your browser during processing and is not uploaded to a server.

Remove duplicate rows from an XLSX or CSV file: Free, no limit on the number of conversions, with no sign-up. Compare all columns or only the ones you tick, drop repeated rows and fully blank rows, then export, or open image to table when the source is a picture.

Choose an .xlsx or .csv file.

Limitations

These limits apply to this duplicate remover.

  • Only the first sheet of an XLSX workbook is read. Later sheets are not read.
  • Matching is case-sensitive, so Ada and ada stay as two rows.
  • .xls is not accepted. Upload .xlsx or .csv.
  • Only one step can be undone. Undo restores the table from just before the latest removal.

remove duplicates in Excel

Drop repeated rows from an XLSX or CSV file.

Columns: All compares every cell in the row. Tick specific columns when only those values should match. A later row is removed only when those cells match an earlier row. Spaces at the start or end of a cell are ignored, so ' Ada ' matches Ada. The first match stays, the header row stays, and a row that is empty in every cell stays until you choose Remove blank rows.

Remove duplicates in Excel by uploading an XLSX or CSV file, choosing the columns to compare, and deleting repeated rows plus fully blank rows before you download.

Best files for remove duplicates in Excel

  • An exported XLSX or CSV that repeats the same row.
  • A sheet with fully empty rows you want gone, while partial rows stay.
  • A list where one column, such as an email or an ID, repeats.

Check before exporting remove duplicates in Excel

  • A row with text in any cell is not a blank row.
  • The header row stays in place.
  • Spaces at the start or end of a cell are ignored.

Column comparison

Choose the columns that decide a duplicate.

Columns: All compares every cell in the row. Tick specific columns when only those values should match. Changing the ticks runs the comparison again from the table as it was before this removal. The first matching row stays, the header stays, and Undo puts the previous table back. A row that is empty in every cell stays until you choose Remove blank rows.

Whole row

Leave Columns: All selected when every cell should match before a row is removed.

A few columns

Tick Name, or Name and City, when the other cells are allowed to differ.

Blank rows

Remove blank rows deletes a row only when every cell is empty. A partly filled row stays.

Pre-export checklist

  • Header row is still the first row.
  • The notice says how many rows were removed.
  • Undo is available for the latest removal.
  • Download only after the remaining rows look right.

FAQ

remove duplicates in Excel questions

How do I remove duplicate rows in an Excel file?

Upload an XLSX or CSV file, then choose Remove duplicates. The whole row is compared unless you tick columns. The first match stays and the header row stays. Spaces at the start or end of a cell are ignored, so ' Ada ' matches Ada. Ada and ada stay as two rows. A row that is empty in every cell stays until you choose Remove blank rows.

Can I compare only some columns?

Yes. Open Columns: All and tick the columns that should match. Untick City to compare Name and Amount only. A later row with the same name and amount is removed even when the city is different. Spaces at the start or end of a cell are ignored, so ' Ada ' matches Ada. Changing the ticks compares those columns again and keeps the first matching row.

Which rows count as blank?

Remove blank rows deletes a row only when every cell is empty. A row with text in any cell stays, including a row that is only partly filled.

Does the file leave my browser?

The file stays in your browser during processing and is not uploaded to a server.

Can I undo a cleanup?

Yes. Undo restores the table from just before that remove action. One step is kept. Reset still clears the preview.

What file types can I upload?

XLSX and CSV. .xls is not accepted.
